Some mods go higher than the average of 100kb, but it's still slow regardless. If it's too slow for you, just go back when there's likely to be less people using it. THIS IS really weird. Downloading via my browser manually is quicker @_@ Manual downloads come from a Mirror. NMM downloads are from their servers. I've discovered the more popular mods that I use are on Bethesda.net. They download stupid fast from there.
